What is a valid proof of address?

Proof of address is a very important document when it comes to dealing with the French administration, especially for the incorporation of a company with the competent tribunal: executive directors must provide proof of their address in France to complete their application.

In France, as in many other countries in the world, a residence certificate can be issued by local authorities. It contains your personal details and your current address.

Other documents can be provided:

  • Tax return;
  • Electricity, gas or water bill;
  • Telephone or internet bill;
  • Proof of ownership or rent receipt;
  • Proof of home insurance.

If you live with family, friends or relatives, you must provide a proof of residency letter written by them, along with their own identity document (identity card or passport) and proof of address.

Please note that the documents must be dated no later than three months from the application date.
